The Underwater Treadmill
The treadmill is made by Ferno Veterinary Systems. It is designed specifically for veterinary use and uses water to support your pet's weight while walking or running. The treadmill can be used in the very early stages of learning to move well again; the higher the water level, the more of your pet's weight that is supported. As strength and correct movement improves, the water level is lowered each session to further increase strength. Most pets like water; for those that do not, we have life jackets and slowly build up the water level to allow time for adaptation to the new environment. Nothing is rushed. We can get in the tank with your pet to help and also have supporting floats available. Even cats can benefit from this exercise!

For competitive dogs and fitness training, there are whirlpool jets and floats that can further increase resistance during exercise. The underwater treadmill is a sophisticated piece of equipment that in the right hands is very adaptable to meet the specific needs of each individual.
